SPELLS

Starting out as Vecna will see you needing to master his spells quickly to see good progress and lethality. This Ultimate Guide starts with his main M2 attack Flight of the Damned. We will also assume you have read the Beginners page on the site before continuing here. There are multiple ways of using Flight of the Damned with Vecna, here we break down every single one of them.

Flight of the Damned - Insta Skeletons
The art of insta spawning skeletons is to make the Survivors have a harder time dodging your power, you can do this in many ways but the objective is to cast your Flight of the Damned on top of the Survivors before they have time to crouch. The first step to mastering this tech is to learn how far away your skeletons spawn from Vecna when casted, this will ensure that the position is correct. You can practice this by going into a custom lobby on any chosen map and standing near a wall. Whilst facing the wall, hold your Flight of the Damned spell and look roughly at the distance from yourself to the wall and cast the spell. What you are trying to do is spawn the skeletons exactly against the wall, once you start to understand the distance, you can practice elsewhere. Maps like Badham are good ways to practice as well, if you go to one side of the car outside of the main building and do the same thing, you will be able to see how far away your skeletons actually spawn in on the other side of the vehicle. This is very important because sometimes when you are about to insta-cast your skeletons on a Survivor you might have to be aware of your positioning, sometimes requiring you to pull back slightly before casting so that the position of the skeletons spawn on top of the survivor as opposed to behind or infront of them.

Once you are comfortable with the distance, you will then start to use creativity to make them work in more situations. Pallets and Vaults are really good at using this tech, it comes down to timing and the realisation in chase that this can be done, an example would be a Survivor going to vault a Pallet and as they go into the vault animation you cast your skeletons on top of them and this will count as a hit. This is because when Survivors are vaulting they are at the same height as your skeletons so you can use these situations to get a guarenteed hit.

You can also use insta-casting to your advantage on drops, such as the drop on The Game (Gideon Meat Plant) map. When a Survivor is going to the top and then vaults down, as they begin falling and you are on the stairs next to them, you can use proper positioning to line yourself up with them and insta-cast your skeletons onto them so they get hit whilst dropping down to a lower level.
